Banning of Plastic Bags
UDA supports, among other environmental initiatives, the banning of plastic bags at the local, regional and national level. It is currently collecting data and information on the towns, cities and regions both in Turkey and abroad that have banned plastic bags and is helping to promote greater public awareness of the immense volume of waste generated by the daily use of plastic bags and the vast resources – energy, water, oil and chemicals – required to produce such bags.
UDA will shortly be implementing a project to promote the use of fabric bags by distributing environmentally-friendly bags free of charge to schools and universities in Ankara.
